MAD Proposal Paper

What is it?

The Make A Difference Proposal Paper is an expository essay that explains what you are going to do. The proposal is research-based, citing several sources of information that demonstrate the value of your project.

Steps for completing the Proposal Paper

1. You and your team should locate several sources of information that you can use in your proposal. Be sure to save any valuable web sites, as these will be part of your research and part of your proposal. Following are some examples of research:

  • If you are writing a bookfor the MAD project, one source should demonstrate a need for the book -- maybe a web site that shows other books in the genre that you will write in.
    • Another source might be of a book writing/publishing site you'll use to help you write.
  • If you intend to create a charity, you should research charities and see if anything like yours already exists.
    • Also, you should research how charities are built. Mention this in your proposal.
    • Decide who will benefit from your community and search for similar charities in the area.
    • Decide what your charity needs -- review charity sites and see what they offer.
  • If you are creating a service, how will the service be delivered?
    • Will it have a web site or a social media tool for advertisement?
    • Are there employees? Who are they?

2. Outline your written proposal: your written outline should look like the one at this page link

  • Your outline can be produced on your Noodle Tools project page

Using Noodle Tools

You should create a bibliography card for each source you review and at least one note card. There are videos linked here that will help (you may have to view them outside of school).

When you finish your research, you should write your proposal. Be sure to cite the source information you add (in other words, make it look like a this sample proposal paper -- only longer).

Writing the Proposal Paper

  1. You will use Google Docs, linked in Noodle Tools or place your final paper on your Barnesclass.com web site.
  2. Write one paper per group.
  3. Include citations in your paper (this will be explained in class)
